"Little Bosnia" fulfills the goal of the Avalon Theatre Company to establish a culturally rich identity for its performances, staff and audience. Started in 2005 by Larry Mabrey and Erin Kelley, the Avalon joins a burgeoning thearical community in St. Louis.

Four of the actors in "Little Bosnia" were born in the former Yugoslavia. They can attest to the conflicts of identity. They are Americans; they are Bosnian. One had acted in Belgrade. One had never acted on stage before. Anela Islamovic, left, has acted in St. Louis.

Avalon Theatre's premiere of "Little Bosnia" brings to the stage the real conflicts across generations of immigrants, whether they come from the former Yugoslavia or elsewhere. Many of the actors in this production know first hand the tensions that Christina Pippa's play explores.
